Run The Hill

Sign up for the first annual Wainuiomata Hill Run and put your fitness to test. Starting in central Wainuiomata, the 6k takes you up the hill to the lookout and back, and the 10k option takes you all the way over the hill and back. Run or walk, tackle it solo or alongside your friends, enjoy the beautiful bush and push through the climb!

Will you be the first Wainuiomata Hill Run champion?

This year we’re supporting the Lower Hutt Community Foodbank provides parcels with enough food to feed individuals or families for four days. Last year we distributed over 10,000 food parcels.

The Foodbank’s primary role is providing nutritious food to households and individuals who cannot purchase any or all of the types of food they need, when they need it, in the quantities they need it, for the length of time they need it, in a mana enhancing way.

What is the terrain?

The majority of the route is on pavement or road, with small sections on grass in the park.

Can I walk in the running category?

Yes, if you need a break during the run, you can walk. However, you cannot enter as walker then run. We need to fairly award the fastest walker, so if you run you will be disqualified from prizes in the walking category.

Can I change categories?

Absolutely. If you change to a category the costs more than the one your originally entered, you will need to pay the difference. If you change to a category that costs less, this difference is non-refundable.

Can I fundraise more for the charity partner, Lower Hutt Food Bank?

Yes, we would love you to use your race to raise even more funds for the Lower Hutt Food Bank. Please visit your profile after registering to set up your fundraising page.

Can I volunteer on the day?

We are looking for lots of volunteers to help the day run smoothly, so you can still be involved if you don’t want to race. Roles include track marshalling, registration and water stations. Please click here to register.

Food Parcels ready to have fresh produce added, then out the Lower Hutt Food Bank clients.

I was surprised to hear the Food Bank had 56 people through the morning I visited. I was even more surprised to hear this was a quiet day! The average days sees about 70 people come through, but they can serve up to 100 on a busy day.

Have you registered yet to take on the Hill, and help the Food Bank keep providing their awesome service?
